Painterly Pallet

I haven't posted much lately because I have been really busy working on household things around the house. I've been doing a lot of painting, but unfortunately not the painting I prefer.

The only painting I've worked on and completed this summer is one to benefit the Duval Art Teacher's Association. It is a wooden pallet that has been painted to resemble the skyline of Jacksonville's Downtown. The medium gave me a bit of trouble because I am not used to painting on a wooden surface.

I originally thought about painting it with watercolor. So I gessoed the pallet and began painting it with the watercolor. I found myself getting frustrated because I could not get the watercolor to adhere to the wood. I then decided to use acrylic. After a little time working with it, I decided to switch to Oils. After a lot of hours I decided to stick with oils.

I'm not sure the exact details, but you could win my pallet or other pallets painted by other local artists through a raffle. When the raffle begins I will update you on how to purchase your tickets.
