Spring Break, What to Do

Well the first thing I want to do is clean up the Art Studio. Like all artists I have stuff everywhere... I call it controlled chaos.

Then I have about a dozen painting I still need to finish...

Semi Abstract Painting

This painting I finished during Thanksgiving Break. I wanted to create something with some texture so I used to modeling paste to build the texture. Then I painted on top of the modeling paste.

Spending some time in the studio this Holiday

This weekend I hope to spend a lot of time in the Art Studio. I'm having a bit of Artist's block, but the best way to get over it is to paint.

Blank Canvas

Teaching has been extremely hectic the last couple of weeks. As a consequence I haven't had much time or energy to paint. In an attempt to inspire myself I have purchased an extremely large canvas. It is completely backwards to the way I normally work. Normally I would get an idea and then stretch the canvas to fit the idea. This time I'm working towards an idea.

It hasn't taken me long, but I think I know what to paint... I'm thinking of painting a narrative. Maybe a biblical story or possibly a fairytale.

Blank Canvas

I just received a huge 48"x60" canvas. It is a nice canvas and I am really excited about painting it, but I don't have any idea where to start. Should I paint abstract? A landscape? Florals? Figures? I'm stumped. The next few days will be filled with ideas... Time to get drawing.

I need to paint

Right now I am fighting with time. I have the desire to paint, but I'm having difficulty finding the time. Now that the school year is beginning I have even less time. I am going to start carrying my sketch book around with me daily. I used to all the time, but then I stopped for some unexplainable reason.

This weekend I hope to spend at least a few hours painting in the studio.
