Blank Canvas
I just received a huge 48"x60" canvas. It is a nice canvas and I am really excited about painting it, but I don't have any idea where to start. Should I paint abstract? A landscape? Florals? Figures? I'm stumped. The next few days will be filled with ideas... Time to get drawing.
My art is my voice. As someone who is traditionally introverted, I’ve found that art is an effective way for me to express myself. Over the years, that expression has turned into a passion; one that I feel is uniquely me. I don't try to recreate something that already exists, but instead create the inimitable impression it had on me.
My work can be described as relatable subjectivity. I constantly try to share my perspective - one typically not explored - by capturing my perception of the places, events, and people around me, ideally conveyed during the viewer’s experience.
My focus lately gravitates toward oils and acrylics, mainly because of its unpredictability – much like life. Since I have to push the paint to where I want it to go, it gives me more control to create an accurate portrayal of the world through my eyes. Yet, concurrently, a watercolor can "accidentally" move and help to create a new vision on its own.
My work is intended for both the layman and the connoisseur alike. If both can appreciate what I’ve created, then I feel my “voice” has been heard – and thus my passion lives on.
